Federal Police Administration gets Director after Seven Years

After seven years, the Federation of BiH got a director and deputy director of the Federal Police Administration (FUP) These are Igor Marić and his deputy Vahidin Šahinpašić. For the previous seven years, FUP was managed by acting officials. The new management of the FUP takes over the mandate after the competition procedure has been carried out.

The appointment was made after a long selection procedure. The competition and scoring of candidates was conducted by the Independent Committee of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which submitted a list of successful candidates to the Government of the Federation.

The new director of the FUP, Igor Marić, according to the available information from his official biography, is known as an experienced inspector from Grud, that is, a long-time police officer from the West Herzegovina Canton. During his career, he worked on several operational and management positions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of that canton, and he also served as the chief of the local crime police. Most of his professional involvement was spent in the fight against organized crime and other complex criminal acts, and he has many years of experience in leading criminal investigations and police teams. Previously, he also ran for the position of deputy director of SIPA. Marić passed the interview before the Independent Committee of the FBiH Parliament and meets the requirements for the position of director of the Federal Police Administration. He won a total of 95 points.

Vahidin Šahinpašić, the new deputy director of the FUP, is a long-time employee of the State Agency for Investigation and Protection. During his career, he worked in the fight against organized crime, drug trafficking and other complex crimes. In SIPA, he served as the head of the Criminal Investigation Department, and later as the head of the War Crimes Department. He is considered one of the most experienced operatives in state police structures, with many years of experience in conducting complex investigations. Šahinpašić passed the interview before the Independent Committee of the FBiH Parliament and meets the requirements for the position of Deputy Director of the Federal Police Administration. He won a total of 98.5 points.
