Ferid Spahic is the only Survivor from the Paklenik Pit

The day of the creation of the Republika Srpska (RS) cannot be a joyful day for all the victims of the crimes committed on the territory of this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and by those who knew in advance that they were planning a genocide.

The victims of the project, for which the military and political leaders of the RS are serving their sentences in prisons around the world, are powerless to change anything.

Footage of the shooting

Parades, formations, symbols, and uniforms bring them back to the time when they looked death in the eye.

”I’m worried about the madness in that nation. There are few among them who are against it. It is unbelievable that people in the 21st century are proud of crimes. That’s spite. What are they celebrating? January 9th and a document with strategic goals for which Mladic also told them that it was genocide, that the people could not be “sifted”.

I still can’t watch the footage of the shooting of the people from Srebrenica near Trnovo. The body simply cannot stand that people are standing with their backs turned, and the “heroes” are shooting at them. And now how to open the eyes of the people,” told Ferid Spahic, a citizen of Visegrad who in June 1992 survived the shooting at the Paklenik pit near Sokolac.

He is the only one of the 50 captured Bosniaks from his Smrecje and other villages near Visegrad who were captured fraudulently and who, with the promise that they would be evacuated to Skopje, were brought to the shooting site.

Holy holiday

Spahic comes from the region where members of the Ravnogorski movement paraded during the post-war years.

”I don’t even know how I would behave if I saw them marching where I grew up.

I haven’t set foot in Visegrad since the war. If the celebration of a holy holiday like Christmas is used for the provocation of neighbors, then what are we talking about? If Eid becomes an opportunity to defy someone, I will change my religion,” said Spahic.

Who will take care of us

He has been without a job since the middle of last year, his family has no income, and Ferid, as a victim of the war, does not even have the right to go to the spa.

”There are not 200 people like me in the country. People who survived shootings, that is the last thing, they are the worst cases and the biggest traumas.

Couldn’t the state take care of us? I have a neighbor who survived the shooting in Srebrenica, so he is in the same situation. With 33 years of experience and 60 years of life, I can no longer do every job. I don’t run away from work, I’m a child from the village, but I can’t,” pointed out Ferid Spahic, Avaz reports.
