azilantiThe number of asylum seekers from B&H to countries in the Schengen Zone for the eight months in this year has decreased by 19 percent in comparison to the same period last year, and has the least amount of asylum seekers out of all the countries in the region.

In Schengen zone countries, 1.835 people applied for asylum in the eight months of this year, said in a report on the monitoring of the implementation of visa liberalization of the European Service for Boundaries ‘Frontex’.

Rapporeteur on visa liberalization of the European Parliament Tanja Fajon said that she is encouraged by the date that the number of asylum seekers from B&H is dropping, because for B&H it is of crucial importance to not endanger the freedom of travel for its citizens.

She said that the data on the drop in asylum seekers is the best weapon against those EU member states that, justified or unjustified, are trying to reintroduce visas.
