From the first celebration of the Day of Europe in 1985, 9 May has become the opportunity for all citizens of Europe to celebrate Europe and European values, said today to Fena, spokesperson of the EU Delegation to BiH Andy McGuffie on the occasion of this significant date.
‘We can say that the EU has succeeded in promotion of peace, democracy and prosperity’ said McGuffie.
Today,500 million people live in the free trade and travel region, they are safe and they decide on their life choices.
‘We want that for BiH, as well. The overwhelming majority of people in this country have said what they want – the EU membership. They want a functioning state, ruled by the law, which makes possible to all its citizens to live of their work and to life a dignified life. The EU has seriously taken these aspirations and we are your partners in making them realized’, noted McGuffie.
As an example he noted that 660 million EUR was given, in the period of 2007-2013, for reforms in BIH via the Instrument of Pre-Accession Aid.
‘We hope that citizens of BiH will join us in marking the Day of Europe, especially on the rock concert where bands Vanja the Frog and Neuro will perform. The concert will be held on 10 May at 8 p.m. in Banja Luka’, said McGuffie.
