The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has imposed a financial penalty on the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) due to incidents during the World Cup qualifying match in which BiH hosted the Cyprus national team.

FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee stated that during the BiH – Cyprus match, there was a violation of Article 15 of the Disciplinary Code, which prohibits discrimination and all similar behavior that endangers basic human rights.

The Football Association of BiH was fined 20.000 Swiss francs and is required to implement a plan of preventive measures at future matches.

Penalty for Romania as well

FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee also fined the Football Association of Romania due to events during the match against BiH in Bucharest.

Romania was sanctioned for throwing objects, use of pyrotechnics, discriminatory behavior, and disturbing public order.

The fine amounts to 23.500 Swiss francs and Romania was also ordered to reduce stadium capacity by 15 percent for one upcoming match. That section of the stands may be filled with children up to 14 years old or members of other vulnerable categories, N1 writes.
