Fikret Hodžić, who was sentenced to five years in prison by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the “Respirators” case, came to Vojković, the Institute for Execution of Prison Sentences, Detention and Other Measures of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in East Sarajevo, where, according to the decision of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he should serve his sentence .

This was confirmed for N1 from this facility on Thursday, March 14.

In the same case, the former Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Fadil Novalić and Fahrudin Solak, were also convicted for abuse of position and authority during the procurement of one hundred respirators from China worth 5.4 million euros in April 2020, immediately after the declaration of a state of emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic by the former director of Civil Protection of this entity.

Hodžić is the owner of the company FH “Srebrena Malina”.

On March 13, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina passed a decision on the appeal of Fahrudin Solak and Fikret Hodžić, in which it confirmed the decisions rejecting the requests for postponement of the execution of the criminal-legal sanction.

Convicted persons were informed that they are obliged, within three days, from the date of receipt of the decision on the appeal, to report to the Institute for Execution of Prison Sentences, Custody and Other Measures of BiH in Vojkovići to serve their prison sentences.

Also, the Court received the appeal of the convicted Fadil Novalić on the rejection of the request for a postponement of the execution of the prison sentence. The appeal postpones the execution of the sentence, it was announced from the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

All three sent requests for a postponement of their prison sentences, a day before they were supposed to report to prison.

Then they appealed against the decisions of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina which rejected those applications.

The trial of Novalić, Solak and Hodžić began on February 23, 2021 before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They were convicted in the first instance two years later, on April 5, 2023.

Novalić was sentenced to four years in prison by the final verdict on January 27, 2024, Solak to six, Hodžić to five, and the company FH “Srebrena malina” to a fine of around 100,000 euros.

The fourth defendant, Jelka Milićević, former Minister of Finance of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was acquitted of the charge of negligent work in the service, N1 writes.
