”Obrana i zaštita” (A Stranger) , the first feature-length film by Bobo Jelčić has been included in the program ”Forum” of this year’s Berlin Film Festival, and it will have its World premier on 9 January, said the authors of the film on yesterday’s press conference.
Through the story of Slavko (Bogdan Diklić) who is uncertain whether to go to funeral to his old friend of different nationality, Jelčić’s film talk about the divided Mostar and about the ”world were paranoia, comedy and drama coexist”.
Bobo Jelčić said that with this film he felt the need to tell something about the condition of his home town, but not about something that can be read in the news but rather about the emotions and life of a common man.
For Jelčić, who is a proven stage director, directing a film was a challenge, and he says that it is important that unlike, the theatre play, film remains.
He considers that it is a success that his film has been included in Berlinale, and his goal is to participate in other World’s festivals, while the film will come to BiH and Croatian cinemas in September.
