Golubar iz Travnika liječi povrijeđenog jastrebaFamous pigeon breeder Zdenko Čurćić from Slimena near Travnik rescued a hawk which was severely injured in a fight with a rival several days ago.

Two hawks attacked Zdenko’s carrier pigeon in flight. In the heat of the battle, one of them fell to the ground, while the other took away the best carrier pigeon from Zdenko’s brood.

“It was like in movies. I was in my yard, watching them fight for the prey and fight among themselves. The stronger hawk took away my best carrier pigeon in his claws, and injured his rival on the head and body. Luckily, the injured hawk fell near my yard. I took him to the house, sew the wounds on his head and body, and gave him medicines I usually give to my pigeons when predators like hawks or falcons attack them,” Zdenko said, holding the beautiful hawk in his hands.

The pigeon breeder from Travnik believes that the bird will recover soon.

“The hawk is recovering quite fast. You can see that there are still traces of blood on the head and the body, from the battle. I think the bird will fully recover by spring, and then I will release him into the nature,” Zdenko said.
