In recent days, Finland has recorded record temperatures, which in some regions fell to 20 degrees below zero on Friday.

Snowfall and very cold weather were recorded in this Nordic country, including the capital Helsinki.

Finland and Sweden recorded their lowest winter temperatures on Tuesday and the mercury in thermometers fell to minus 40 degrees Celsius, as a result of a cold wave that hit the Nordic region.

In Finland, record cold this winter was recorded in the northwestern town of Ylivieska, where temperatures fell to minus 37.8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday morning.

Temperatures below minus 30 degrees were recorded in several locations in the Arctic Lapland region. Finland’s capital, Helsinki, is also gripped by the cold, with temperatures expected to hover between minus 15 and minus 20 degrees this week.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute has issued a warning of significantly cold weather that will prevail in the country this week, with forecasted temperatures likely to exceed minus 40 degrees Celsius in parts of the country, AA writes.
