First final results of the population census in B&H might be published in June, in case all contentious issues related to the processing of census data are resolved in three weeks, the Agency for Statistics of B&H stated.
At the meeting with representatives from the Agency for Statistics of B&H and the institutes of statistics from both entities, the director of the Office for Statistics of the European Commission (Eurostat) Peter Everaers gave recommendations which should be worked on rapidly in order to begin publishing the final census results in June.
Among the key recommendations is the one that the statistic institutions should solve all contentious issues regarding the processing of census data within three weeks, that the census results must be processed in accordance with international standards, the Law on Census and recommendations by the International monitoring mission, and that the principle of professional independence must be respected.
After the four-day visit by the International monitoring mission and representatives from Eurostat, the final meeting of directors of all three statistic institutions was held yesterday at the premises of the Agency for Statistics of B&h.
Participants of the meeting discussed the activities on final processing of the data of census of population, households and apartments held in 2013.
“If all disputed issues are solved within the three weeks deadline, first final results of the census might be published in June. As planned earlier, the first results to be published will be the total number of permanent residents in B&H and basic demographic characteristics of the population,” it was stated.
