British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Nigel Casey met today with founding members of BIT Alliance, a new association of advanced software and web-based solution providers to discuss their plans on how to improve the quality and quantity of skilled IT experts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The founding members of the BIT Alliance are Green River Media, Atlant BH, Zira, Authority Partners, Ping and DevLogic. They are keen to grow by investing and focusing on various methods of developing talent by offering in-house training opportunities, working with educational organisations/institutions to ensure that their courses are in line with the market expectations, increasing collaboration between all the private sector IT companies to promote inter-company support within the industry, ensuring that all member companies adhere to an agreed code of conduct within the industry, whereby one company’s actions do not negatively affect the other members and to create a unified voice within the industry to influence decision-making processes relevant to the industry.
At the meeting, Ambassador Casey said, “I’m very pleased that a British company, together with like-minded companies has taken a pro-active role to address challenges they face in doing business in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We often hear that international companies opt to do business here because they have found an educated, capable work force in European location, at competitive prices. Although this may be true for the manufacturing sectors, this does not seem to be the case for the country’s IT sector. To ensure that this exceptionally vibrant sector continues to grow and provide exciting employment opportunities, education providers in this country need to start addressing the real needs of businesses”.
