Puerto Flamenco brings the Authentic Spirit of Spain to Three Cities in BiH

Renowned Spanish company Puerto Flamenco is coming to Bosnia and Herzegovina to present its flamenco spectacular, PURO. As part of the Dansar Festival of Dance and Arts, the company will perform in three cities across the country from 17 to 20 September:

at Hrvatski dom Herceg Stjepan Kosača in Mostar on 17 September at 8:00 p.m.; at the Bosnian Cultural Centre in Sarajevo on 19 September at 8:00 p.m.; and at the Bosnian Cultural Centre in Tuzla on 20 September at 7:30 p.m. Following the tremendous success of the Gran Gala Flamenco show and two sold-out performances at Sarajevo’s BKC last autumn, the Dansar Festival continues to bring outstanding artists and the many faces of flamenco to audiences throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“This September, audiences in Bosnia and Herzegovina will enjoy an authentic flamenco experience direct from Seville – the heart of Andalusia and the birthplace of this unique art form, which is recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Flamenco is much more than dance. It consists of three essential elements: cante (singing), toque (guitar playing) and baile (dance). Audiences in Mostar, Sarajevo and Tuzla will have the opportunity to see exceptional artists bring all these elements together in a deeply emotional live performance,” said Enis Avdić, co-organiser of the DansarFestival.

The performance PURO – Spanish for pure, original and authentic – combines carefully crafted choreography and musical compositions with the raw energy of improvisation. It gives the artists the freedom to showcase their skills on stage and transform every performance into a unique experience, just as flamenco has been performed for more than two centuries on tablao stages in cities such as Seville, Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Granada, Córdoba and Málaga.

Audiences in Budapest and Oslo enjoyed this flamenco spectacular in August. At the beginning of October, following its three performances in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the acclaimed company will present PURO to flamenco enthusiasts in Malta.

“Puerto Flamenco’s visit also marks an important new step for the Dansar Festival, as this is the first time its programme will extend beyond Sarajevo. We are delighted that audiences in three cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina will have the opportunity to experience the unique and authentic tradition of Spanish flamenco,” Avdić added.

Puerto Flamenco was founded in Seville in 2004. Over more than two decades, the company has developed a distinctive artistic style deeply rooted in traditional flamenco while embracing a contemporary approach to stage performance. Its artists have appeared at prestigious venues and festivals around the world, including the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, Festival de Jerez, WOMAD, Sziget Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, QPAC Theatre in Brisbane, Pittsburgh Guitar Festival and Malta Arts Festival.

This year’s Dansar Festival and the arrival of the renowned artists from Spain have been supported by the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the Embassy of Spain in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the City of Sarajevo and the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton – Visit Sarajevo.

Tickets are available online through the ENTRIO platform and at well-known ticket outlets throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Further information is available at www.dansar.org and on the Dansar Festival’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
