Alipašino Polje in Sarajevo will turn into a spectacular Red Bull Soapbox Race arena this Sunday, September 6, bringing together 40 teams from across Bosnia and Herzegovina, creative homemade vehicles, music and plenty of adrenaline.
The entry to the event is free, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy what promises to be one of the biggest and craziest races on four wheels — without a motor.
The 40 competing teams will present their original creations before taking on a track approximately 400 meters long, featuring obstacles that will test their driving skills, creativity and ability to use gravity to reach the finish line. In addition to racing against the clock, teams will compete to impress both the audience and the judges with their performances and creativity.
The entertainment program begins at 11:00 a.m., when the gates open, with music by Helem Nejse, DJ Soul and surprise guests. The main program and race are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.
Organizers expect a large number of visitors and recommend using public transportation instead of driving to the venue, as parking spaces in Alipašino Polje are limited. Tram and trolleybus services will operate regularly, while the event area can also be easily reached on foot from several directions, including Bulevar Meše Selimovića, Majdanska Street, Trg solidarnosti and Safeta Hadžića Street.
A temporary change in the traffic regime will be introduced on streets along the Red Bull Soapbox Race route and in the immediate vicinity. Drivers are therefore advised to follow traffic signs and use alternative routes.
For the safety of visitors, competitors and staff, entry to the event area will be possible only through marked entrances, where security checks will be conducted.
Glass and PET packaging, cans, outside food and drinks, pyrotechnics, weapons, sharp objects and other items that could endanger the safety of visitors and participants will not be permitted. Exceptions will be made for food and drinks for babies and small children, as well as products required for health reasons.
Visitors will be able to purchase water and Red Bull at several bars located within the event area.
The Red Bull Soapbox Race is an all-ages event, and everyone is welcome. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
With warm and sunny weather expected, visitors are advised to wear light clothing, bring a cap or hat and use sunscreen. Organizers also recommend arriving early to allow enough time for security checks and to find a good viewing spot along the track before the race begins.
Sarajevo is therefore set for a Sunday filled with creativity, music, laughter and homemade racing machines as the Red Bull Soapbox Race takes over Alipašino Polje.
