The first trucks with chicken from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union are scheduled to start within the next fifteen days.
Although BiH was placed on the list of countries that are allowed to export chicken meat to the EU at the beginning of the year and was officially approved by domestic firms in mid-May, exports have not yet been made because of demanding market and difficult finding of customers.
Mirko Sarovic, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, pointed out that the export of chicken meat is currently in the hands of domestic companies that have been granted export licenses.
“The Ministry and the Veterinary Office of BiH have completed all procedures and opened the EU market, so there are no more obstacles to export, and finding buyers in Europe is a gradual and long process,” Sarovic said.
