First Winter Olympic Academy will be held in late January

In the organisation of the Olympic Committee of BiH (OKBiH) and the U.S. Embassy in BiH, the first ‘Olympic Academy, Sarajevo 2013’ will be organised in Sarajevo in late January.

The aim of the project is to connect the young people of different ethnicities, from different towns of BiH through sports activities and education program on values of the Olympic Games.

This project is a very significant step towards the strengthening the capacities for the development of new approaches, activities and strategies that will promote respect, friendship, tolerance, excellence, fair-play and solidarity through sports among the young of BiH.

Project will have a sports programme (skiing and skating) and educative programme – lectures about the values of the Olympic Games; and interactive workshops that will strengthen the team spirit and also there will talks with Olympic participants, famous sports workers and champions.

Forty high school students, from Prijedor, Doboj-Istok, Olovo, Višegrad, Trebinje, Široki Brijeg, Livno, Jajce i Fojnica, age 14-18,of both sexes, different ethnic and religious affiliation  from all over BiH will participate in this project.

They were selected on the basis of their grades, and they will be given the opportunity to promote the values of Olympic Games in their local communities

This is the first project of this kind, and it is financed by the Embassy of the USA in BiH.
