Sarajevo is known for its great nightlife. Team of local Spotters in Sarajevo selected five of their favorite spots for a night out!
If you are looking for a crazy, off the radar, but truly authentic place in Sarajevo, Kino Bosnais a must. It used to be an old cinema with decades and decades of tradition, which became useless after the war. The wonderful Ms. Sena gave it new life when she converted it into a unique bar. In its early years it was truly part of Sarajevo’s underground scene. Now it has become more well-known, but it still has a very local vibe. Occasional live music, lots of beer and an interesting combination of people of all ages make this cinema-turned-bar one of a kind.
Bossa Nova Cafe is a new spot in Sarajevo that brings together people who have a passion for dance. This concept may be a joyful alternative for those looking for a more active evening out. The people who come here are of various ages, friendly, open-minded and easy to start a conversation with. Certain evenings are reserved for different dance styles. Whether you’re into salsa, tango, kizomba, bachata, or just in a mood for an evening outside of the city center, the harmonic and relaxed atmosphere of Bossa Nova may be the perfect option.
For the alternative souls of Sarajevo, Underground is the Rome where the road of any night out will eventually lead. This is one of rare clubs in the city center that will stay open until 04:00, so lots of people come here around midnight after they’ve had a drink somewhere else. The best part of this club is the music – a lot of different bands have their gigs here, but mostly alternative rock and metal bands. Don’t miss a chance to come to this local favorite for a great weekend of dancing with friends and enjoying good live performances by local and foreign groups.
When you’re in the mood for an alternative to a regular night out, Mr. & Mrs. Cue provides a bar experience with the added bonus of fun activities to engage in. In this spacious pub you can play billiards or darts with you friends while listening to some great live music. It is a largely youthful place as it’s located near the University, but you’ll find all generations here. The billiard tables are of good quality, the beverage prices are decent, and you can really enjoy some quality time with your crew while enjoying the chilled atmosphere.
With a cosy, warmly colored interior dedicated to Scottish football, Celtic Pub is a go to spot both for football fans and music lovers for a night out. Despite the name, the feeling you get from the place is more like an Irish pub, and interestingly the waiters wear kilts all year long. For the sport fans, there are large screens that show important events. For those looking for a more typical night out with music, sometimes you can dance with your friends, listening to live local rock bands, while other nights you’ll be able to enjoy foreign and ex-Yugoslavian music playlists. The pub recently expanded and now has a second floor with two balconies – the perfect place to escape to on a hot summer day while enjoying a cold drink.
