At the last session, the Government of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton (BPC) Gorazde approved the granting of a concession through a self-initiated offer for the construction of solar power plants at the locations of FNE Jahorina, Jahorina 1, FNE Jahorina 2, FNE Vranovina and a wind farm at the Kacelj location.
With this decision, the relevant ministry is given the opportunity to issue locations for the construction of solar power plants, and all interested entities can submit their self-initiated proposals for granting concessions to the address of the ministry.
Minister Zijad Briga said that an offer from a business entity from abroad arrived in March, in which, along with a detailed conceptual design, the intention to build several solar power plants and one wind farm was expressed.
Briga added that this should be the largest project of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) with a capacity of over 800 MWH, and for the sake of comparison, he stated that the maximum capacity of the Visegrad Hydroelectric Power Plant is 350 MWH per year.
“What is important for BPC Gorazde is that after the completion of this project, the income of the canton based on concessions would be significantly increased, which would solve to a good extent the financial problems that the canton has. For example, when the BPC Government made this decision, a contract was signed with a German company in Sokolac, and as it was officially announced, the concession fee to the municipality of Sokolac from just one solar power plant should amount to around 800.000 BAM per year,” Briga explained.
With this decision, the BPC government gave the Concessions Commission the opportunity to start negotiations with a company that is already interested, and in the meantime, there is still the possibility for all others who are interested to present their offers, ekapija reports.
