On Thursday, five Ukrainians were arrested in Ilidža for the kidnapping of a Syrian citizen. Police officers of the Police Directorate of the KS MUP, under the supervision of the prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Canton of Sarajevo, continue to work on documenting that criminal act, the MUP announced.

The Ilidža police department was informed on Thursday around 3:40 p.m. that several people physically attacked a man at the roundabout in Pejton (Ilidža), who was then forced into a van and headed in the direction of Blažuj.

Police officers of the Police Department of the MUP of the Sarajevo Canton found the Ford van in question in a self-service car wash in the area of Plandište Street and a man, D.D., a citizen of Ukraine, who can be linked to the event.

Not long after, in Plandište Street, police officers try to stop a “Skoda” motor vehicle in which there were persons of interest. The driver of the vehicle refuses the order to stop and continues driving in the direction of Vrelo Bosna. At the Vrelo Bosne picnic area, police officers found the vehicle, while the suspects continued their escape.

The Prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Canton of Sarajevo qualified the act as Unlawful Deprivation of Liberty (Article 179 of the FBiH Criminal Code), and due to the suspicion of committing this criminal offense, the following persons were deprived of their liberty: Y.L. (2005), Y.H. (2003), O.I. (1985), D.D. (2004) and A.M. (2005), all from Ukraine.

Previously, police officers located a facility where a man, A.E.A., a citizen of Syria, was illegally detained. Accompanied by police officers, he was transferred to KCUS for a medical examination, where he was diagnosed with minor injuries. Police officers searched the house and found a firearm – a pistol.
