13444053_1204185342965753_485224642_nWith a prayer and the laying of flowers on the memorial fountain built in honor  of the first commandant of Territorial Defense of the Novi Grad Municipality, late Ramiz Salčin, and the place where the commandant of artillery division Nadir Kahvedžić and his fellow fighters Uzeir Jusupović, Zijad Bajić and Džan Gudić were killed, the delegation of the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality marked the 24th anniversary of the defense of Mojmilo hill and the battle for water supply network.

Members of families of the killed ones, fellow fighters and delegations of veteran associations and political parties, together with representatives of the Council of the Local Community Olimpijsko Selo, gathered yesterday in Mojmilo to evoke memories of the heroic defense of courageous fighters of this settlement from aggressor forces and pay tribute to them.

The flowers were also laid on the memorial for the fighters of Roma nationality in the Novopazarska Street and on the memorial for the martyrs, killed fighters and civil victims of war in the memorial park in the Local Community Olimpijsko Selo, as well as on the fountain in Brčanska Street at the territory of the Local Community Otoka.

As explained by the Assistant to the Mayor for Veterans’ Issues, Labor, Social Issues and Health Tajib Delalić, this date is marked in the sign of gratitude to the martyrs and fallen soldiers, defenders of the Mojmilo hill, who defended the honor and freedom of their homeland with dignity.

“These are very important events for the defense of Mojmilo, where the aggressor had the aim of completely controlling the situation in these settlements. Defenders of the 101st Brigade did not allow the aggressor to come out to the Mojmilo hill,” Delalić said.

President of the Association of the 101st Brigade Hamdija Lagumdžić said that members of this brigade, together with special units, methodically and in synchrony defended Mojmilo from the aggressor.

“Heroic battle of the members of the 101st Brigade, special unit Lasta and the unit of the Territorial Defense resulted in the defense of Mojmilo in a short period of time, in a way where we destroyed the aggressor on the Mojmilo hill in a planned action. We destroyed a large number of tanks and transporters, the flag of the Republic of BiH fluttered, and the life of people in this area was facilitated,” Lagumdžić remembered.
