tukaThe best BiH athlete Amel Tuka won the first place on the race at 400 meters at the athletics meeting that was organized by AC “Novi Grad” in the sports center “Safet Zajko”.

Tuka ran the race with time 46.41 seconds and broke a personal record, thus achieving the norm in this discipline for the European Championship which will take place from the 6th to 10th of July in Amsterdam. And Tuka was not even planning to run…

“I was not even supposed to perform at the athletic meeting in Sarajevo, but to be just a guest and support the meeting, but my coach told me to run the race at 400 meters. I ran and broke my personal record. My record was 47.19 seconds, and now it is 46.41 seconds. The proof how this result is good is showed by the fact that I achieved my norm for the European Championships in Amsterdam in this discipline. I was positively surprised with the result. This result will help me a lot in my discipline at 800 meters and it makes me happy,” said Amel Tuka.

Tuka used the opportunity to praise the good work of the Municipality of Novi Grad, which built this great sports complex.

“I must praise the construction of sports complex Safet Zajko and personally thank to Mayor Semir Efendic who did something like this for people and children. Now the children can train and socialize here, and we can make great results,” stated Tuka.

Our athletes will perform on the 14th of June in his discipline, 800 meters, at the athletics meeting in Lucerne (Switzerland), which marks the 30th edition of this sports events. After Lucerne will follow already mentioned the European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam where Tuka will run in his discipline at 800 meters as well. However, the most important for him is to be the most prepared for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this summer.
