Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), MSc Josip Brkic, stayed in Tbilisi on January 26th, 2026, where he held political consultations with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, George Zurabashvili.

Deputy Minister Brkic also paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, during which the importance of continuing friendly relations and the exchange of visits as a basis for further deepening bilateral ties was confirmed.

Discussions were held on enhancing cooperation between BiH and Georgia in areas of common interest, with an exchange of views on the European path, Euro-Atlantic integrations, and current security challenges in the region. Issues related to regional development trends in the Western Balkans and the South Caucasus were considered, including approaches to strengthening peace, stability, and security.

During the talks, Deputy Minister Brkic informed the interlocutors about the current situation in BiH, the challenges the country faces on its path towards the European Union (EU), and the efforts being made to implement reform processes. He also briefed the interlocutors on BiH’s cooperation with NATO.

The interlocutors highlighted the importance of cooperation in multilateral formats, including mutual support for candidacies in international organisations. Views were additionally exchanged on possibilities for enhancing economic cooperation, the development of tourism, and cooperation in the field of education between BiH and Georgia.

During his stay in Tbilisi, Deputy Minister Brkic met with the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Nikoloz Samkharadze, where views were exchanged on strengthening mutual cooperation and political dialogue.

The visit confirmed the friendly relations between BiH and Georgia, as well as the shared commitment to strengthening political dialogue and cooperation on issues of common interest, both bilaterally and at the regional and multilateral levels.
