”Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is on the Balkan route and is under enormous and constant pressure from migrants, ” stressedthe Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Bisera Turkovic, at the Sixth Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean, which is being held in Barcelona.

“We recognize the European Union’s (EU) assistance to date and are we are grateful for it. It is imperative that BiH’s assistance be committed to intensifying co-operation with the EU and partners in the Western Balkans over the migrant crisis, especially when it comes to breaking up illegal migration networks and organized crime groups who are involved in human trafficking,” Turkovic said.

Also, she pointed out that the crisis is far from its end, especially having in mind the recent events in Afghanistan so that it is necessary to look for a stronger and more coordinated approach in solving these challenges.

”Turkovic spoke about the challenges facing the entire region and emphasized that BiH will strongly advocate for further stabilization and the European path,” it was mentioned by the line ministry.

“In achieving this goal, we need the individual and joint help, and also support of the EU and other friends from around the world,” she noted.

Ministers and representatives of 42 countries with nearly 700 million inhabitants gathered at a large event in Spain, under the joint chairmanship of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, with the presence of European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi.
