A total of 13 displaced and returnee families from the municipality of Foca received the keys of the new housing units.
Construction or reconstruction of the housing units for displaced persons and returnees, is part of the 8.1 million EUR worth project „Support to durable solutions of Revised Annex VII Dayton Peace Agreement Implementation Strategy,” which is funded by the European Union with 7 million EUR through IPA 2012 and co-founded and implemented by UNHCR in cooperation with the project partners in the 10 priority municipalities.
In the project also known as the “My Place under the Sun”, Hilfswerk Austria International is responsible for the implementation of components of housing and economic sustainability. Until the end of the project in 2016, they will construct a total of 105 housing units for the most vulnerable internally displaced persons and refugees from all across B&H.
Aim of the project ” Support to durable solutions of Revised Annex VII Dayton Peace Agreement Implementation Strategy ” is to provide help for at least 2,400 vulnerable displaced persons and returnees in B&H, including women victims of war, in order to find solutions for the social challenges that they are facing with every day, through close cooperation between local authorities, local communities, civil society and the project partners, together with the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of B&H.
The project was started in 2014 and it will be realized by 2016 in the following municipalities: Bosanski Petrovac, Gradiska, Prijedor, Derventa, Maglaj, Bijeljina, Zivinice, Mostar, Foca as well as in the Brcko District.
