Food Exports from BiH increased by 89 million BAM

Despite the crisis in agricultural production, which is reflected in the increase in the price of raw materials, and which has lasted practically for the second year in a row, that is, since the disruption in the supply chains from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), in the first half of this year, there was a significant jump in the value of exported food.

A look at the indicators, recently published by the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, shows that the value of exports in the agro-industrial sector in the period from January to June this year amounted to 487.973.802 BAM, which is a jump of almost 90 million BAM compared to the same period last year (then the value of exports was 398.886.045 BAM).

In exports, fats, and oils of plant of animal origin, meat products, grain-based products, beverages, alcohol and vinegar, milk and milk products, and edible fruits contribute the most in terms of value.

Although these are good indicators that point to the fact that the domestic agricultural sector is nevertheless resistant to crises, two facts should be taken into account, the first of which is reflected in the figure according to which the import of agricultural products is many times higher.
