Two hundred roses were thrown from the cliff at the site of Koricanske stijene in Vlasic, where at least 200 Bosniak and Croat men were shot on yesterday’s day in 1992.
On the 30th anniversary of the crime, a large number of family members of those killed, survivors and members of the Union of War Camp Detainees in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), and representatives of veterans’ organizations and political and religious life paid tribute to those killed and recited the prayerFatiha.
Munevera Avdic, president of the Organization of Families of Martyrs and Fallen Fighters and Missing Persons of the Municipality of Kotor-Varos, said that a crime was committed on Koricanske stijene.
”At this location of Koricanske stijene 30 years ago, over 200 people from Prijedor were shot, but during the exhumation and identification, five people from Kotor-Varos were also found here. This means that it is a crime on top of a crime, that they dug and hid so that these people would not be found. A total of 7,628 citizens are searched for in BiH, and specifically 275 people from Kotor-Varos. We appeal to the institutions that are involved in the process of searching for missing persons to speed up that process, especially to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, which issues the exhumation order,” said Avdic.
Seid Omerovic, the president of the Union of War Camp Detainees in BiH, said that it is important to cherish the memory of this place.
”The thirtieth anniversary of Koricani speaks of three decades of commemoration of what happened here. We also said in our invitation that it was a double execution, and in essence it was a triple execution of 224 camp prisoners of the Prijedor camps of Bosniak and Croat nationality. What is evident is that there are people who cherish the tradition of truth and want to live together in these areas. What happened to those camp prisoners, and not far from here, in Manjaca, where there were camp prisoners of Serbian nationality, is something that is evident, and that is the division into only two groups of people: those who were victims and those who committed genocide,” pointed out Omerovic.
He also explained the concept of the triple execution that was carried out on the camp prisoners of Prijedor.
”The triple execution involves shooting the camp prisoners at this place, the second execution is the fall, since some survived and some deliberately jumped to try to get out alive, and the third execution is what came after, the throwing of bombs and the shooting of bursts on the bodies of the camp prisoners,” Omerovic added, Vijesti.ba writes.
