Former Employees of the EUFOR and NATO Peacekeeping Forces protest in Sarajevo

Former employees of the EUFOR/NATO peacekeeping forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered today in front of the NATO headquarters base in Butmir near Sarajevo, who wanted to express their protest in this way because they have been waiting for years for payment of compensation claims from the labor-legal relationship from former employees of the national contingents of the peacekeeping mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The payment of damages refers primarily to payments for seniority and contributions, said Avdo Salihbegović, the legal representative of a large number of former employees of EUFOR/NATO peacekeeping forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Although the exact number of those seeking debt collection from former employers, namely EUFOR and NATO, is not known, Salihbegović says that it could be about 15,000 people who directly or indirectly worked for the peacekeeping mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Now we have reached the point that they don’t even want to communicate with us, so for a year, a year and a half, we have been asking for a meeting with the commanders of EUFOR and NATO, with the aim of solving the accumulated problems both procedurally and substantively. Since 2018, we have numerous legally binding and executive decisions that are not implemented,” says Salihbegović for Raport.
