Former Member of BiH Presidency Beriz Belkic, passed away

Beriz Belkić, former member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, died today at the age of 77, reports Oslobodjenje.

Beriz Belkić was born in Sarajevo on September 8, 1946, and since 1996 he has been a member and part of the innermost leadership of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Since 1996, Belkić has been the Minister of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees, and since 1998, Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Government. For eight months during 2002, he was also a member of the BiH Presidency.

In the general elections of 2000, he was elected as a deputy in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and he continued his mandate in this body after the 2006 and 2010 elections.

At the end of his mandate, he retired from politics.
