Former Police Commissioner from BiH, charged for Eleven Years, arrested in Slovenia

Acting upon the orders issued by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, officers of the Judicial Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina have taken over the accused Ramo Brkić at the International Airport Sarajevo. Brkić was arrested by the Slovenian authorities on 28 May 2019.

Ramo Brkić, former police commissionaire of Una-Sana Canton, was arrested in Slovenia after being at large for three years. He fled the country after the Court of BiH sentenced him to 11 years in prison for production and trade in narcotics and the abuse of office and other corruption charges, Center for Investigative Reporting reports.

The confirmed indictment charges the accused Ramo Brkić with the criminal offense of Giving Gifts and Other Forms of Benefit under Article 218(1) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The pre-trial custody motion hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday, 19 June 2019, Courtroom 6, at 9 a.m..
