Former US President Bill Clinton released from Hospital

Former US President Bill Clinton has been discharged from the hospital after being admitted last night for treatment of the flu, his spokesman Angel Ureña confirmed. Clinton was hospitalized the previous evening at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., for tests and observation after developing a fever.

“He and his family are deeply grateful for the outstanding care provided by the team at the hospital and are touched by the kind messages and well wishes he has received,” Ureña said.

Clinton, now 78, has previously faced serious health problems. In October 2021, he spent six days in the hospital due to an infection that affected his bloodstream. He is also known to have a history of heart problems.

In 2004, at the age of 58, he had a quadruple bypass implanted for heart disease, and in 2010, he underwent a procedure to open a blocked artery after chest pains.

Clinton remained active after his term in the White House (1993-2001) ended, starting the Clinton Foundation, which focuses on global initiatives such as health and education. The foundation collaborated with the American Heart Association to create the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.

After his heart problems, Clinton changed his lifestyle significantly, becoming a vegan. In 2016, he told Politico, “I might not be here if I hadn’t gone vegan. That’s great.”

Despite health challenges, Clinton remained politically engaged. During this year, he actively participated in the presidential campaign, traveling across the country to support the ultimately unsuccessful presidential bid of Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.
