Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Edin Forto met in Washington with representatives of the United States (U.S.) Department of State, where he stated that it is time for BiH and the U.S. to begin concrete preparations for an infrastructure partnership agreement in their mutual interest.
“BiH and the U.S. need an infrastructure investment agreement that would encompass the development of gas, railway, and broadband infrastructure in both BiH entities. These projects would strongly connect BiH’s economy with the region and the rest of Europe,” Forto stated.
He added that U.S. institutions could provide financing and contractors who guarantee fast and efficient implementation of projects.
“In building and renewing infrastructure, the most expensive thing is waiting. BiH no longer has time to wait,” Forto emphasized.
At the meeting, it was concluded that connecting BiH and the U.S. through the development of modern infrastructure would be the best way to contribute to long-term stability, increased investments, and new opportunities for both countries.
