Franciscans saved Life to a Russian who escaped from Mobilization ended up in BiH

A few days ago, the Franciscan monastery of St. Bonaventure in Visoko received an unplanned guest – a Russian who escaped from mobilization, and he received a warm temporary home and security in this institution, where its hosts do everything for him to continue his life safely.

The guardian of the monastery, Franjo Radman, found him in the courtyard of the Franciscan monastery, on a bench, left to himself, in an extremely serious state of health. Here they took care of him and gave him first aid considering that the weather was cold and that he was lying on the bench in wet clothes and covered with frost.

Fr. Ivan Nujic says in an interview that their guest from Russia looked very bad and that the rescue came at the last minute.

”I went to school to teach, and Guardian Franjo asked me to try to talk in English. It was difficult, he only said two or three words, but he was quite frightened, simply, I felt sympathy for that man. I couldn’t help him because I had to go to class, and later I left Visoko,” Nujic said.

Immediately after the discovery and reception of the Russian, the police were informed and instructed the hosts of the Franciscan monastery on the activities they should undertake. In addition, they themselves became involved in this case and took statements. After the first statements, numerous interviews and controls followed in order to determine where the Russian citizen came from in Visoko.

Guardian Franjo said that he cannot say much about this, except that they did everything to give him a second chance at life.

”When he came, I informed the police about this case. He did not know where he was brought, and we, considering the condition in which we found him, are happy to have saved him from certain death. In the past days, we managed to establish contact, he also contacted some of his friends, and the competent institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) that work with foreigners were informed about everything,” said guardian Franjo Radman and expressed his belief that this will all end well in the coming days.

For now, the details of the (un)lucky Russian’s journey to BiH are not known, but fleeing from war and mobilization, he could very easily have ended his life here on the bench, left to himself, if there weren’t good people who gave him protection and did everything to continue his life, Klix.ba reports.
