World Hypertension Day faktor.baOn the occasion of the World Hypertension Day, the Clinical Centre in Sarajevo organized a  free blood pressure measurement and counseling of the citizens today in front of the BBI Center, from 10:00 to 12:00 o’clock.

The doctors from four departments of the CCUS (Department of Cardiology, the Clinic for Dialysis, the Department of Nephrology and the Department of Neurology) gave useful advice to the interested citizens on how to behave in cases when the patient is unable to see a doctor at the time of high blood pressure.

Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a major cause of stroke, myocardial infarction (heart attack), congestive heart failure, arterial aneurysms, and certain forms of chronic renal failure.

Changes in diet and lifestyle can help in monitoring the values of blood pressure and reduce the risk of major complications.

However, in patients with whom the given changes turn to be ineffective or insufficient, drug treatment is necessary, was said from the Office of Public Relations of the CCUS.
