The Government of Canton Sarajevo (CS), on the proposal of the Ministry of Transport, adopted a decision on the establishment of public transport at night.
Night transport will be carried out from midnight to 5 a.m., and during that period there will be a tram on the route from Ilidza to Bascarsija, a trolleybus from Dobrinja to Jezero and a bus from the center to Vogosca.
After the analysis, these lines are optimal for public transport traffic at night, and the Ministry of Transport will monitor the situation on the ground, and possibly bring new solutions accordingly.
The number of passengers on certain routes will be monitored, as well as the time when passengers most often use transport after midnight, so that, if necessary, certain solutions can be supplemented or changed in accordance with the needs of citizens.
Citizens will use the night transport for free, as the Ministry of Transport will finance these services.
“One of the many requests of citizens to our Ministry was night transportation. In earlier periods, we did not have the prerequisites for ensuring quality and safe night transportation, but by acquiring vehicles and establishing video surveillance, we managed to provide 24-hour transportation. Public transport after midnight is important for all citizens, tourists, for workers who work in the third shift, for the reduced number of vehicles on the streets after midnight”, pointed out Minister Steta.
In the coming days, the carriers will announce the timetable for the lines that will operate at night.
Yesterday, the government adopted a decision that in the next year, pupils, students and pensioners with a minimum pension will continue to use public transport services for free on all lines 24 hours a day, and coupons of all categories – workers, unemployed and others – will continue to be valid with both carriers.
Minister Steta pointed out that he is proud of the fact that the number of passengers is increasing, that the categories of pupils, students and pensioners are satisfied with the benefits provided to them, as well as the fact that workers are increasingly using public transport.
“We will continue to act in the interest of all citizens, the process is long-term, we have done a lot of work, we will continue in the next year, in order to completely improve public transport and change the quality of life in Sarajevo”, concluded Minister Steta, N1 writes.
