Fuel Supply in the Federation of BiH stable despite Several Days of Blockades

Due to blockades of freight traffic and restrictions in international transport recorded in several countries of the region, which in some countries have already affected fuel supply chains, the situation on the market of oil and oil derivatives in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is stable.

The Government of FBiH and the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry ensured through the company Operator – Terminals of the Federation (OTF) adequate commodity reserves of oil and oil derivatives and established mechanisms for timely reaction, including the readiness to release fuel from reserves into traffic in case of emergency circumstances.

“During the past year, OTF began the systematic filling of storage capacities, which for the first time established functional fuel reserves that enable responding in the event of short-term disruptions on the market, while their significant increase is planned for 2026, which will further strengthen the energy stability and security of the FBiH,” said Damir Kreso, President of the Board of the Operator – Terminals of the Federation of BiH.

OTF Management Board member Adrijana Zarinković said that the oil terminals in FBiH, which have been neglected and insufficiently maintained for decades, are undergoing a process of reconstruction and technical training with significant investments by the Government of FBiH, with the aim of increasing storage capacities and strengthening long-term energy security, in accordance with the obligations arising from the European energy framework.

In parallel with this, the FBiH Government is making intensive efforts to preserve and maintain the oil terminals of the Federation of BiH in the port of Ploče as a strategic infrastructural capacity of key importance for the stability of supply, after a permanent and legally safer solution was not established in a timely manner in earlier decades, announced the Public Relations Office of the Operator – Terminals of the Federation of BiH.
