Deputy Chairman of BIH Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Zlatko Lagumdžija, who is also the governor of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for BiH, talked today to participants of the 22nd session of Governor’s Board of EBRD, which was held in Istanbul.
During his speech, Lagumdžija gave his support to EBRD BiH and said that EBRD is the largest investor to BIH, and just in 2012, 125 million EUR was invested, 80 to infrastructure, 23 to industry, commerce and agriculture and 22 to financial sector, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He noted that EBRD invested 1.5 billion EUR to BiH via different projects focused on infrastructure, SMEs and strengthening of financial sector.
He also said that BiH has used most money allocated and now seeks the support of the bank for implementation of new development and investment projects, with the aim of fighting against unemployment and improving economic status of BiH citizens and added that it is of utter importance that projects finances by EBRD continue to be implemented and he welcomed new investments of EBRD in BiH.
He said that different sector in BiH need to be reformed and EBRD will have significant role in that.
Talking about the modernisation of EBRD, Lagumdžija said that the bank should focus on development of SMEs, and to help economic inclusion.
On the first day, delegation of BiH, headed by Lagumdžija met with delegation of EBRD, European Investment Bank, OPEC Development Fund and Delegation of Kuwaiti Fund for Arabic Economic Development.
