The recognizable traditional dishes and rich tourist offer of Jablanica were presented on Friday in the City Park of Jablanica.
Event “The best Taste of Jablanica” represented the culmination of a project funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP, which has been in the process of realization since the beginning of this year and it gathered many women, especially from rural areas of this municipality.
“We would like to thank our donors, as well as women from the Association Most, which improved our tourist offer in this way. It is important that the project was educational as well and we all work on the development of our area. We want our domestic and high-quality products to reach every corner of our country, and abroad,” said Mayor of Jablanica, Salem Dedic.
Damir Zarak from the UNDP said that this international organization supports similar projects in more than 20 municipalities and cities all over BiH.
“It is important for the local government to recognize the importance of civil society. When we take a look at everything that women from Jablanica prepared, we cannot wait for the official part of the event to be over so we can try all this food prepared,” said Zarak.
The project “Taste of Jablanica for Rural Development” lasted from the beginning of this year, its value was estimated at 39,000 BAM, and the partner of the project was Association of entrepreneurs from Mostar “Link”. The Project Coordinator Sanja Zupic explained that the main aim of the project was to animate women, especially those from rural areas, and to empower them economically.
“We mapped the producers of food products in the area of Jablanica as well as the producers of handicrafts, and we worked on a series of educational workshops and created business plan for the association,” said Zupic.
The three-judge jury selected the winners, and then the people in the City Park could try all of the exhibited delicacies.
