Germany donates 50 High Quality Respirators to Bosnia

In early 2021, a coronavirus pandemic remains a key threat – and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the number of newly infected and dead is still very high.

For this reason, Germany, with the strong support of the World Health Organization, will donate 50 additional ventilators and 10,000 pulse oximeters to health facilities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina to support the medical treatment of patients.

All these devices will, of course, be able to be used in BiH healthcare even after overcoming the corona crisis.

The total value of this donation is about 530,000 euros. Yesterday in Sarajevo, German Ambassador Margret Webber took over the devices together with Boris Rebec, Head of the Office of the World Health Organization in BiH, and Ankica Gudeljevic, Minister of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, Prim. dr. Goran Cerkez, Assistant Minister of Public Health of the Federation of BiH and a representative of the Crisis Staff of the Federation of BiH, as well as Vlado Miovcic, a representative of the PHI Institute of Public Health of Republika Srpska and the head of the Regional Center East Sarajevo.

This donation will benefit hospitals and health facilities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and will be delivered shortly.

“We are fighting throughout Europe against a new wave of pandemics – so European solidarity is still necessary. The pandemic will only be overcome, when we all overcome it. No one is safe until we are all safe, “said Ambassador Webber.

Germany supported Bosnia and Herzegovina in many ways during the corona crisis, the latest action being in November when 12 respirators worth 350,000 euros were provided as well as 5.0 million euros to support small and medium-sized enterprises in overcoming the crisis. Another donation of 6.5 million masks worth more than 4.4 million euros will be available soon.
