Dr. Christian Hellbach, Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany to B&H, has signed another contract worth 800,000 BAM with the organization ‘’ITF Enhancing Human Security’’ on the 5th of June, 2015.  Domestic companies will use these resources to clean up all the surfaces that have been mined from all parts of the country.

After a certain period of time, another contract worth 1.7 million BAM, placed by ’ITF Enhancing Human Security,’’ as well, should be signed through another tender.

Furthermore, German Government will allocate around 1 million BAM to project partner NPA (Norwegian People’s Aid) to clean the area of Doboj, river Usora from the mines.

So far, Germany anticipated about 3.5 million BAM for humanitarian demining in B&H in 2015.

Since 1997, the German Government has allocated about 56 million BAM for this purposes.

Ambassador Hellbach expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with the ‘’ITF Enhancing Human Security’’ and their joint efforts to manage and solve this problem. Ambassador emphasized that the engagement of the government of FB&H and entities is extremely important.

Currently, there is approximately 1200 square kilometers of questionable area in B&H that should be demined.

11425320_1645763848993626_1920597190_nThe Ambassador expressed his concern about the current situation and lack of engagement regarding this problem, and emphasized once again that the involvement of institutions in B&H is crucial in order to successfully solve this problem.

He is honestly hoping that we are getting closer to the solvation of this problem in next couple of years.

Director of ‘’ITF Enhancing Human Security,’’ the Ambassador Damjan Bergant, expressed his deep appreciation for collaboration, emphasizing that Germany is one of the biggest donors of ITF, who are operating in B&H for 17 years now. He is hoping to help this country in demining of critical areas.
