The arrival of Pope Francis in Sarajevo is main topic discussed in the capital of B&H for days. The arrival of the Holy Father in the capital of B&H has been discussed on the streets, in the trams, the coffees, and there was a very special atmosphere on the streets of Sarajevo, on the eve of his arrival.
Apart from large number of tourists who visited Sarajevo these days, arrival of large number of pilgrims from Croatia and other countries from the region was expected for the evening.
Bishop of Dubrovnik, Mate Uzinić, arrived in Sarajevo as well and said:
“This is a very important event because this is a man who has the ability, and the great authority to send out a powerful message, especially a message of peace, love, forgiveness, and these kinds of messages are very much needed to B&H. And not only to B&H, but for each and every one of us. ”
One of the interviewee that we had the opportunity to speak with today, said that the Pope always chooses to visit countries with troubles and intolerance, in order to bring the word of peace and to encourage people.
She commented today’s gathering of young people in the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Stup as well.
“This is a perfect opportunity for people to get to know each other and get closer since there are people of all faiths, not only Catholics. It is very important to nurture the friendship, to realize that there are no difference between people and that we are all together, we are living together and coexistence is possible. I am 69 years old and my generation used to hang out much more, and the whole Yugoslavia was like that. They call us now Yugonostalgic, but our every day was just like this,” recalled the interviewee.
