Germany will continue to promote Bosnia and Herzegovina within the EU Institutions

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turkovic met on Thursday with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bosnia and Herzegovina Margret Uebber.

Ambassador Uebber informed Minister Turkovic about the key priorities of the German six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union, which began on July 1.

She pointed out that the global pandemic COVID-19 has changed the German view of the presidency, and therefore, overcoming the pandemic, and economic and social consequences, remain key challenges that Germany can successfully face only in cooperation with EU member states and international partners.

Germany is following the situation in the region with special interest, and especially the situation in our country, the ambassador added, and pointed out that Germany is strongly committed to the perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the EU.

Germany will continue to promote our country within the EU institutions, but it is the obligation of our country to meet the conditions and make additional efforts to create progress, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH.

Minister Turkovic emphasized the importance of the support that Germany has provided to our country on the path of European integration and, in that regard, expressed gratitude to Germany, but also to other EU members.

She emphasized that the presidency of Germany over the Council of the EU is extremely important for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that is why our country’s expectations are high.

Minister Turkovic said that Bosnia and Herzegovina, despite the consequences caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, is determined to make maximum efforts in the implementation of the undertaken obligations.
