Goethe Institute Organizing the Manifestation “Eco-Day”

Goethe-institut_SarajevoAfter a big eco-camp for students in 11 schools throughout BiH that was held in September 2012 in Jajce, the Goethe Institute is organizing the manifestation “Eco-Day”, which will on the occasion of the end of the project “Charge of the Environment” be held today in the Goethe Institute in Sarajevo, as well as in its immediate vicinity.

The project is being implemented since the beginning of 2011 as part of the initiative “Schools: Partners of the Future” (PASCH) that is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the German government and implemented by the Goethe Institute.

All 11 schools are due by the end of 2013 to implement projects with which they signed up to participate at the camp, and to have a report on the conducted activities.

Goethe Institute is subsidizing each school with 1.000 KM in order to realize the planned activities.

Besides the 50 students that participated at Eco-camp in Jajce, the action will be supported by 50 students from partner schools from Sarajevo, Brčko and Tuzla, and is being taken care of by the Dispatch for Education Abroad (ZfA).

The goal is for young people throughout BiH to meet and to do something together for the environment, and to convey their experiences to other students and with this, would slowly but permanently affect the awareness of the importance of preserving the environment.

A cleaning action called “Make our Dariva Beautiful” is planned at 14:00. After the cleaning, within the premises of the Institute there will be posters with the winning projects, and screenings of the impressions of the camp will be shown.

The entertainment part will include a group of students from Prnjavor who will carry out their environmental performance, and the musical group Charlie Boomerang will play into the evening hours.

A well-known television and radio journalist Haris Bilalović will moderate the manifestation.

Valuable prizes are expected to be handed out (first prize is an eco bicycle).
