The owner of the ArcelorMittal from Zenica announced results for global business operation for the first six months of 2017.
As reported, net profit in the first half of this year amounted to 2.3 billion USD, which represents a drastic increase in comparison to 696 million USD in the same period last year.
From the ArcelorMittal stated that the transformation of business operations in the plants in Europe is going according to plans and that the company is now working more efficiently by using digitization of business with the aim to improve the process of the production.
According to data from the end of 2016, ArcelorMittal employs around 3,250 workers in BiH of which 2,400 in Zenica and 850 in Prijedor. Last year, the company invested about 385 million BAM, and last year’s exports amounted to about 400 million BAM.
At the beginning of March 2017, three new projects of ArcelorMittal Zenica were presented. These are environmental projects – a hybrid filter in the plant of Aglomeraci, a new machine in their facilities, as well as a product of the project development.
“When it comes to the development of the new product, with this investment of 10.4 million BAM, ArcelorMittal Zenica became the only plant of ArcelorMittal Europe that manufactures ribbed steel,” said the General Director of ArcelorMittal, Biju Nair.
According to market developments and investments in BiH, ArcelorMittal will continue its successfull business operations in BiH and since the Chinese steel price crisis has been overcome, work places were secured for more than 3,000 employees in this company in BiH, as well as thousands of domestic suppliers.
