Startup Weekend Sarajevo, in cooperation with posao.ba and the Project for Youth Employment (YEP) of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is organizing the second Startup Weekend Sarajevo from 19-21 July, which will be held on the premises of Meeting Point.
This unique event is a chance for young people who wish to start their own business and develop their business ideas.
Startup Weekend Sarajevo will host this year a mentor who is coming from California from Google headquarters. Martin Omander is the program manager in Google and is coming to Sarajevo for the first time in order to work with young people who wish to launch IT startups. Participants at Startup Weekend Sarajevo will have the chance to meet Martin and speak with him about their business ideas. Martin will also hold a Google CodeLab workshop focused on back-end developers.
Startup Weekend will host its last year’s winner Printheos, who will, seven days after the end of Startup Weekend go on a special training program in San Francisco, USA. Posao.ba is the sponsor and will pay for the flight tickets to San Francisco while Blackbox VC is the sponsor for the training program.
Startup Weekend is a place for young people to find out if their ideas are viable. Half of the participants have a technical background, and the other half have a business background.
The goal of Startup is to gather 100 young people, students and those who have completed their studies, who are interested in starting their own companies and to gain new knowledge and skills. Participants are expected from all cities in BiH, from neighboring countries and the entire world. Startup is open to all young people. Startup Weekend will be held on the same days in Portugal, Australia, Mexico, the US, Columbia, and many other countries.
