A report of an explosive device placed at Sarajevo International Airport, which temporarily disrupted the airport’s operations, turned out to be false, after the competent services conducted a detailed inspection of the facility and determined that there was no danger, BiH media reported on Thursday.
Passengers and airport staff were previously evacuated from the terminal for security reasons, while operational work was temporarily suspended. After the inspection was completed, the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina invited passengers and employees to return to the airport premises and continue with regular activities.
According to available information, the incident did not cause significant delays or serious disruptions to regular air traffic.
The event comes at a time of increased number of similar reports across Bosnia and Herzegovina, including schools and shopping malls, all of which have so far been confirmed as false, according to official information. Competent institutions are continuing their investigation with the aim of identifying the source of the reports.
