The ceremony of signing the contract on allocation of funds was held yesterday at the premises of the Embassy of Japan in Sarajevo.

The Japanese Government allocated an amount of 69.347 EUR (about 136.000 BAM) for the project of reconstruction of the elementary school “Sveti Sava” in Lopare, while the elementary school “Jovan Dučić” in Banja Luka received the amount of 55.536 EUR (about 109.000 BAM).

The subject assets will enable the replacement of dated woodwork (windows and doors) in school facilities. The third recipient of the grant is the elementary school “Lukavica” in Gračanica, for which the Government of Japan allocated a grant amounting to 65.502 EUR (about 128.000 BAM). Apart from woodwork replacement, implementation of the project in Gračanica includes the replacement of asbestos roof on the facility. Implementation of these three projects will create better conditions for the implementation of teaching process for about 1.200 pupils attending these three schools, as well as for 200 teachers and associates.

Institute for Health Protection of Women and Maternity of the Sarajevo Canton in Hadžići received 25.871 EUR (around 50.600 BAM) for the project of procurement of medical equipment. The Institute was founded in 1933 with the aim of providing specialist health protection in the Sarajevo Canton.

Japan is one of the greatest bilateral donors in BiH. Since 1996, Japan has donated around one billion BAM for more than 200 projects in nearly all vital sectors such as primary health protection, education, demining, water supply, agriculture, environmental protection, infrastructure, culture, etc. Japan will continue supporting BiH with the aim of contributing to the social-economic development in these key sectors, it was stated in the announcement by the Embassy of Japan in BiH.
