The Government of Japan has provided grant funds in the amount of 219,620 Euro (approx. 429,500 BAM) for three projects of procuring ambulances and medical devices for the Health Care Centre of Doboj, Maglaj and Kozarska Dubica. The Grant contracts were signed by Ambassador Masami KINEFUCHI and the directors of the aforementioned institutions, Mr. Vladimir Marković, Ms. Nejra Nalić Medžić and Mr. Vladimir Babić respectively on 14 March 2023 at the Residence of the Ambassador of Japan. The signing ceremony was also attended by Mayor of Doboj, Mr. Boris Jerinić, Mayor of Maglaj, Mr. Mirsad Mahmutagić, and Mayor of Kozarska Dubica, Mr. Radenko Reljić.
The Government of Japan granted 77,494 Euro (approx. 151,600 BAM) to the Project for Equipping Health Care Center Doboj in Doboj with an Ambulance Vehicle and Medical Equipment. The project will improve their capacity of emergency treatment activities that expected to benefit approx. 1500 patients annually from this donation.
For the Project for Equipping Health Care Center Maglaj in Maglaj with two Ambulance Vehicles, the amount of 76,912 Euro (approx. 150,400 KM) was granted. The project will be used to equip the health care centre with two ambulances that will be used not only for emergency case but also for dialysis patients. In total, annually approx. 1,000 patients are expected to receive adequate transfer service.
For the Project for Equipping Health Center Kozma i Damjan in Kozarska Dubica with an Ambulance Vehicle and Medical Equipment, the government granted 65,214 Euro (approx. 127,500 BAM). Through the project, an ambulance and medical equipment including slit lamp microscope will be equipped with the Health Care Centre. The citizens of Kozarska Dubica will have access to eye care and overall approx. 8000 patients will be benefit from the ambulances and medical equipment, annually.
All those three health care centres have served as the only health care centre in the respective city, providing primary health care to its citizens. Thus, the Japanese government supported them in 1997 and 2014. The projects signed this time is positioned as the continuation of previous supports and will contribute more efficient and effective treatments.
The Government of Japan has been assisting the improvement of people’s welfare, in such sectors as health care and education, demining in Bosnia and Herzegovina through the scheme of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GAGP) which aims at directly benefitting the people at grassroots level. The total grants approved in the last 27 years amount to over 20 million Euro (approx. 39 million BAM).
