Minister of Culture and Sports of the Sarajevo Canton Mirvad Kurić yesterday held a meeting with the officials of the Sarajevo football premier league clubs Sarajevo, Željezničar, and Olimpic Dino Selimović, Mirsad Šiljak and Nijaz Gracić.
Minister Kurić pointed out that the budget for the next year foresees that the Ministry of Culture and Sports pays for the costs of security during matches, which will be of great significance for the clubs. In this way, the clubs will be disburdened of financial issues which they currently have and they will be able to dedicate to sports exclusively.
Furthermore, Minister Kurić emphasized the construction of sports infrastructure and investing in stadiums and football fields as the main priority. Officials of the clubs believe those are the right investments which are visible and profitable in many ways. Each of these clubs is fighting with the lack of fields for training which are necessary for the organization of quality training processes.
Minister Kurić promised to organize meeting with mayors of Sarajevo municipalities in the coming days, in order to come up with a way of investing in sports infrastructure. What he especially highlighted and demanded from the clubs is exemption from paying membership fees by the children with poorer financial situation.
Moreover, Kurić stressed that sports should not be luxury which is available to only a certain number of kids, and that every talented kid should be given an opportunity for training.
