Bosnia and Herzegovina’s shot put record holder and the only BiH representative at the European Championships in outdoor athletics for seniors and seniors, Mesud Pezer from Zenica, arrived in Birmingham, where on the first day of competition, August 10, he will compete in the qualifications as sixth in group B.
For the first time, Great Britain will host the outdoor European Championships, and the competitions at Alexander Stadium will take place until August 16. The championship starts at 10:35 a.m. with the women’s shot put qualifications, and the men’s shot put qualification starts at 12:40 p.m. The final is the same night at 8:30 p.m.
“I finished the preparations without any injuries, I am healthy and feel good, which is the most important thing. First, I need to make it to the finals, which I believe I can achieve, and then we will see what and how to do next. The competition is good, there are 30 of us in two qualifying groups. I was a little hindered by the fact that I came without my coach Kenan Ekmeščić, who did not get a British visa on time, so I had to do all the administrative work myself. But I managed to do that, so now I am waiting for the performance,” Pezer told Fena news agency from Birmingham.
More than 1,500 male and female athletes from 48 European countries are participating in the championship, who will compete for medals in 50 athletics disciplines.
Pezer will, like last year at the World Outdoor Championships in Tokyo, Japan, once again be the only BiH representative at the major athletics event.
