The Spanish company for the delivery of food and other products “Glovo” has decided to suspend operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), and today is the last day of operations.
“We hereby inform you that Glovo has made the difficult decision to suspend operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The last day to use our services will be August 10,” it was stated in their notification, as reported by the business portal Capital.ba.
Glovo stated that the reason for the closure was “the desire to redirect investments and focus on key markets with significantly higher growth potential”.
According to Capital’s research, it was shown that Glova couriers worked without contracts, basic rights and protection through a network of intermediary companies, and that only a small part of delivery workers had employment contracts based on which they were paid health and pension insurance, although there was a legal model that could regulate occasional and additional jobs.
Glovo opened its first branch office in Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo in July 2021, when it took over the local platform Donesi.
