Kenan Mahmutagic, a fourth-grade student at the Technical School in Gradiska, designed the mobile application “Digital Farmer”. The application was chosen among the five best in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) for the fourth time in a row.

Kenan explained in an interview how important the application is for agriculture, farmers and what functions it provides.

“I came up with the idea to create the mobile application “Digital Farmer” when I saw that farmers needed a complete solution like this, so that in this way they could increase productivity on their farm and in an innovative way to facilitate their daily tasks in their farms,” said Kenan.

As he explained, it is an application that seeks to empower farmers in an innovative way.

“The application seeks to strengthen the agricultural sector in an innovative way, to increase the productivity of farmers using artificial intelligence technologies through which they can recognize diseases on plants, augmented reality technology where they can see agricultural machines and equipment before they order it,” he explained.

Some of the advantages and functionalities of this mobile application are the monitoring of soil temperature and humidity.

“In addition, the application provides monitoring of water level in the tank, air humidity, recognition of plant diseases, overview of agricultural machinery and equipment in augmented reality, a forum for sharing images, questions between farmers, a blog for farmers where they can follow the latest news about agriculture, daily tasks through which they can plan their agricultural day, then the ability to monitor profits and costs as well as numerous other functionalities of this mobile application,” told Kenan, adding that the application has over 20 functionalities that aim to make farmers’ daily lives easier.

Also, through the technology of augmented reality, the user can see the agricultural equipment before ordering it.

Kenan’s professor Mladen Vidovic stated that it is a complex application with a huge number of functionalities and with a huge potential to gather a large number of farmers, to include scientific institutions and other entities.

Vidovic emphasized that a huge set of knowledge and technologies is needed that Kenan and everyone else must possess in order to do something like that.

Since Kenan’s application was chosen among the five best in BiH for the fourth time in a row, he emphasizes that it is a great success for him.

“For me, it is a great success that my mobile application is in the top five best in BiH for four years in a row in this competition. My plans for the future are to continue my education at a higher education institution, I plan to continue developing mobile applications and video games, and I also plan to try my hand at entrepreneurship and do some other creative things,” he said at the end of the conversation, Akta reports.
